Dhalua village ‘suddenly’ torched for 5-10 times in a day

Blazes broke out suddenly five to ten times a day in random places at Dhalua village in Barguna Sadar Upazila, however, none knows the exact reasons for such incidents. One after another houses in the villages are getting caught by fire anytime.  

In such a situation, panic has spread in the area. Men are guarding their houses leaving work in fear of fire. The housewives are cooking outside the house. Many have sent their children to their relatives’ homes. Household goods are burning to ashes due to the sudden and uncontrollable fire.

On the spot, it was seen that the first blaze broke out in the area a month ago. Although the fire was brought under control, the next day 8 houses of the village caught fire again. Since then, parts of the village are getting torched every day. However, no one can say how the fire started. Hundreds of families in the village are living in terror.

Victims Ripon, Sentu, Mansur Ali said the fire broke out in different parts of the house “5-10 times a day” for about a month. However, nobody knows the exact reasons. “At first, we thought maybe someone was setting up the fire - so we set up a guard. Later, we saw that the fire was breaking without any source,” they also said.

“Locals are claiming the incidents as paranormal, but it was not proven,” said a local Aliya Madrasha teacher Mahbubur Rahman. “I think the fire broke out due to the increase in methane, ethane or butane gas. It can only be proven after testing.”

While visiting the area, Barguna fire service station manager Bodiuzzaman said such incidents are “nothing new”. “Locals think it is paranormal. We’re vigilant so that no one gets harmed,” he added.

Informing that the matter is being investigated, Barguna Deputy Commissioner (DC) Habibur Rahman said the UNO had been asked to inspect the spot. It is being sorted out the reason of breaking fire frequently.
