Missing Mymensingh girl found after 11 years

An 18-year old girl who went missing 11 years ago when she came to visit the Mirpur National Zoo in Capital Dhaka. She went missing when she was seven years old. There is no bound of happiness to family members after getting the girl back.

The missing girl identified as Maryam of Kandania village Bhabanipur UP of Fulbaria Upazila in Mymensingh. She is the daughter of the late Amshar Ali and Ms. Begum couple.

It is known that Maryam's father died when she was a child. Her two sisters, Lily and Sufla used to work in a garment factory in Gazipur to support the needy family. One day in 2010, the family members, including Maryam, went to visit the sisters. The next day everyone went to Mirpur Zoo together. Seeing a tiger and a lion there, Maryam became separated from her sisters. At one stage she came out of the zoo to look for her sisters. Maryam's sisters also searched her hours after hours but did not find her anywhere.

After missing, Maryam took shelter in several places and got the last shelter to Mosleh Uddin Ahmed and Babeya Ahmed. They lived with their two sons and daughters and Maryam in the central Badda area of ​​the capital. They have raised her like their own daughter for 11 long years. So Maryam treats them as her own family. But sometimes she remembers her mother and sisters. Although Maryam never thought she would be able to return to her mother.

Missing girl Maryam reunite her family after 11 years


Maryam gets back her family thanks to RJ Kibria's 'Apan Thikana' program. On the night of October 26, RJ Kibria shared Maryam's interview on his Facebook page through this the family came to know about Maryam. Later, family brought her to their village home after her identity was confirmed on Sunday.

Visiting Maryam's village home in Kandania area on Monday our correspondent found her sitting in the backyard after breakfast. At that time, she was surrounded by family members and neighbors. Neighboring women and children are rushing home to see Maryam. Maryam was seen to talk to everyone. 

“I have been with a few people since missing. But in the end, I have been in the house of the present Khalamma-Khalu for 11 years. Aunty used to watch the show on Facebook. That's why she wrote down my words and she brought me to this event," Maryam said.

Maryam added, “Even after making the video, I never thought I would be able to find my family and return to my mother. I can't express in words how I feel when I got my family members." 

Maryam's mother Begum said,  "I went to many Kabirajs to get my daughter back, spent a lot of money behind them but did not find the girl. I cried a lot and told Allah and offer salat to get back her. After the video was released on Facebook a few days ago, by the grace of God, we got her back."
