Highest daily cases logged in Japan, deaths in US

Around 767,690 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide in the last 24 hours while 1,724 people died from the pandemic.

Earlier on Thursday, 774,633 COVID- 19 patients were detected while 2,044 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide.

As of Friday (12-08-2022), a total of 593,104,840 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus or Covid-19 worldwide, as the death toll rises to 6,448,316 while 565,011,164 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data. 

United States has topped the daily death toll and virus cases list. In the last 24 hours, the country has seen 290 deaths by Covid-19 and 79,145 virus cases, reporting a total of 1,061,346 COVID deaths and 94,479,779 infections.

The Worldometer data shows that Japan has reported 243,104 new coronavirus cases and 248 deaths during the last 24 hours. So far, the country has reported 34,323 deaths and 14,861,375 COVID cases.

In Brazil, 173 people died of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll by the virus to 681,025. Besides, the number of virus cases has exceeded 34,124,579 as 27,644 new cases were reported during the period in the country.

In the last 24 hours, 137,196 people have been infected with corona in South Korea and 59 people have died. Since the beginning of the corona epidemic, the  country reported 20,983,169 coronavirus cases and 25,441 deaths.

The coronavirus, which was first reported in China in 2019, affects 228 countries and territories worldwide.
