579,817 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide in the last 24 hours while 1,510 people died from the pandemic.

Earlier on Monday, 556,051 COVID- 19 patients were detected while 780 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide.

As of Tuesday (09-08-2022), a total of 590,405,710 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus or Covid-19 worldwide, as the death toll rises to 6,438,926 while 562,186,086 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data. 

Brazil has topped the daily death toll and virus cases list. In the last 24 hours, 188 people have died and 17,409 people have been infected with Covid-19 in the country. With this, the country reported a total of 680,239 deaths and 34,035,780 virus cases.

The Worldometer data shows that Germany has seen the second-highest death toll of 170 in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll to 145,028. The total number of cases has exceeded 31,307,020 with 78,706 new infections.

Japan has reported the third-highest death by the virus in the last 24 hours. During this period, 154 people succumbed to the disease while 198,563 virus cases were reported in the country. With this, the death toll by the virus climbed to 33,663 and the tally of infections has surged to 14,248,541.

South Korea has reported 55,292 new coronavirus cases and 29 deaths during the last 24 hours. So far, the country reported 25,292 deaths and 20,544,420 cases. 

The coronavirus, which was first reported in China in 2019, affects 228 countries and territories worldwide.
