Highest daily cases logged in Japan, deaths in US

In the last 24 hours, 734,227 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide while 1,728 people died from the pandemic.

Earlier on Monday, 521,965 COVID-19 patients were detected while 1,259 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide.

As of Tuesday morning (03-08-2022), a total of 584,040,671 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 6,423,422 while 554,612,579 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data. 

The United States has topped the daily death toll list. In the last 24 hours, 363 people have died and 61,162 people have been infected with coronavirus in the country. The country reported a total of 1,055,975 deaths and 93,319,702 cases.

Brazil has seen the second-highest death toll of 271 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 679,063. The total number of cases has exceeded 33,890,428 with 33,623 new infections. 

Italy has seen the third-highest death toll of 190 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 172,397. The total number of cases has exceeded 21,124,644 with 64,861 new infections.

Japan has reported 167,678 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 12,917,500. The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 32,694 with 109 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours.

The coronavirus, which was first reported in China in 2019, affects 228 countries and territories worldwide.
