Daily COVID-19 caseload, death toll rise globally

In the last 24 hours, 508,271 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 872 died from the pandemic. Brazil has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic during the period. 

Earlier on Monday, 425,882 COVID-19 patients were detected while 613 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide. 

As of Tuesday morning (28-06-2022), a total of 549,822,960 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 6,352,153 while 525,648,550 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data. 

Brazil has registered 147 deaths and 58,278 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 670,606 and counting the overall caseload to 32,136,916 in the country due to the pandemic so far. 

Germany has seen the second-highest death toll of 113 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 140,847. The total number of cases has exceeded 27,914,240 with 142,329 new infections. 

Taiwan  has registered the third-highest death toll of 91 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 6,345 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,641,921 with 28,580 new cases. 

In the US, 80 more people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 1,041,027. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 88,910,140 as 52,403 new cases were confirmed during the period. 

Italy has reported 24,747 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 18,259,261. The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 168,165 with 63 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours. 

The coronavirus, which was first reported in China in 2019, is affecting 228 countries and territories around the world.
