COVID-19 death toll, caseload surge worldwide

In the last 24 hours, 327,366 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 754 died from the pandemic. Taiwan has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic during the period. 

Earlier on Monday, 346,649 COVID-19 patients were detected while 560 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide. 

As of Tuesday morning (07-06-2022), a total of 535,924,290 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 6,321,503 while 506,996,974 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data. 

Taiwan has registered 151 deaths and 53,023 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 3,090 and counting the overall caseload to 2,457,881 in the country due to the pandemic so far. 

The US has seen the second-highest death toll of 113 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 1,033,830. The total number of cases has exceeded 86,637,487 with 54,466 new infections. 

Italy has registered the third-highest death toll of 70 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 167,019 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 17,514,589 with 8,512 new cases. 

In Russia, 64 more people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 379,584. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 18,355,200 as 3,349 new cases were confirmed during the period. 

Brazil has reported 41,353 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 31,195,118. The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 667,106 with 50 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours. 

The coronavirus, which was first reported in China in 2019, is affecting 228 countries and territories around the world.
