5.5 lakh new cases, 1330 fresh deaths globally

In the last 24 hours, 544,985 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 1,330 died from the pandemic. The US has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic during the period.
Earlier on Friday, 610,693 COVID-19 patients were detected while 1,698 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide.
As of Saturday morning (28-05-2022), a total of 530,920,131 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 6,309,638 while 501,496,528 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data.
The US has registered 263 deaths and 98,249 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,031,218 and counting the overall caseload to 85,699,847 in the country due to the pandemic so far.
Taiwan has seen the second-highest death toll of 126 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 1,784. The total number of cases has exceeded 1,735,067 with 94,855 new infections.
Italy has registered the third-highest death toll of 118 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 166,476 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 17,355,119 with 19,666 new cases.
In Brazil, 117 more people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 666,365. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 30,921,145 as 40,633 new cases were confirmed during the period.
Russia has reported 4,619 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 18,315,292. The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 378,784 with 84 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours.
The coronavirus, which was first reported in China in 2019, is affecting 228 countries and territories around the world.
