Daily global COVID cases, death toll further drop

In the last 24 hours, 292,862 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 923 died from the pandemic. Russia has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic during the period.

Earlier on Sunday, 423,461 COVID-19 patients were detected while 1,365 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide. 

As of Monday morning (02-05-2022), a total of 513,618,603 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 6,261,800 while 467,851,535 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data. 

Russia has registered 147 deaths and 7,047 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 376,031 and counting the overall caseload to 18,189,401 in the country due to the pandemic so far. 

Italy has seen the second-highest death toll of 105 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 163,612. The total number of cases has exceeded 16,504,791 with 40,757 new infections. 

Thailand has registered the third-highest death toll of 91 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 28,620 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 4,262,484 with 11,535 new cases. 

In South Korea, 81 more people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 22,875. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 17,275,649 as 37,771 new cases were confirmed during the period. 

Australia has reported 32,536 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 5,960,842. The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 7,238 with 15 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours.

The coronavirus, which was first reported in China in 2019, is affecting 226 countries and territories around the world.
