Daily global COVID death toll, caseload fall

In the last 24 hours, 423,461 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 1,365 died from the pandemic. Russia has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic during the period.

Earlier on Saturday, 583,044 COVID-19 patients were detected while 2,323 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide. 

As of Sunday morning (01-05-2022), a total of 513,340,243 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 6,260,760 while 467,280,408 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data. 

Russia has registered 157 deaths and 7,363 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 375,884 and counting the overall caseload to 18,182,354 in the country due to the pandemic so far. 

Italy has seen the second-highest death toll of 130 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 163,507. The total number of cases has exceeded 16,463,200 with 53,602 new infections. 

Thailand has registered the third-highest death toll of 126 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 28,529 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 4,250,949 with 12,888 new cases. 

In the US, 115 more people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 1,020,833. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 83,066,907 as 24,751 new cases were confirmed during the period. 

Germany has reported 57,003 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 24,761,600. The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 135,900 with 106 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours.

The coronavirus, which was first reported in China in 2019, is affecting 226 countries and territories around the world.
