Covid-19 claims 36 more lives, infects 12193 

Bangladesh today reported another 36 deaths from Covid-19 and 12,193 fresh cases, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The current positivity rate is 27.43 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.51 percent. A total of, 44,451 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, said the release.

The official tally showed that the virus killed 28,461 people and the mortality rate stands at 1.57 percent. Meanwhile, the overall caseload rose to 18,24,180, added the release.

At least 4,203 patients have recovered from Covid-19 during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,75,137, added the release.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 86.35 percent of Covid-19 patients recovered among the infected people while 1.56 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.

Among the eight divisions, Dhaka recorded the highest number of 13 fatalities while 5 died in Chattogram, 6 in Rajshahi, 7 in Khulna, 3 in Barishal, 1 in Sylhet and 1 in Mymensingh.

Earlier in the previous day, 13,154 Covid-19 cases and 31 deaths were reported in the country.

Bangladesh first reported Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the deadly virus on March 18, ten days later from the detection of coronavirus cases in the country.
