Covid-19: 31 more die, 13,501 infected in 24hrs

Bangladesh today reported 13,501 fresh Covid-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 31 lives, which is four months high, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The current positivity rate is 29.77 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.42 percent. A total of, 45,358 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, said the release.

The official tally showed that the virus killed 28,394 people and the mortality rate stands at 1.59 percent. Meanwhile, the total number of cases rose to 17,85,332, added the release.

At least 2,568 patients have recovered from Covid-19 during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,65,545, added the release.

 From the beginning of the pandemic, 87.18 percent Covid-19 patients recovered among the infected people while 1.58 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.

Earlier in the previous day, 12,183 Covid-19 cases and 34 deaths were reported in the country.

Bangladesh first reported Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the deadly virus on March 18, ten days later from the detection of coronavirus cases in the country.
