Bangladesh reports 15,440 Covid-19 cases, 20 deaths

Bangladesh today reported 15,440 fresh Covid-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 20 lives.

“The country reported 33.37 percent Covid-19 positive cases after 46,268 samples tested in the last 24 hours,” the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement today. 

The official tally showed that the virus killed 28,288 people and infected 17,47,331 so far, the statement added.

Of the deceased, eight are male patients and the remaining 12 are female patients.

Around 1,326 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,62,369 bringing the recovery rate to 89.34 percent.

Earlier in the previous day, 15,807 Covid-19 cases and 15 deaths were reported in the country.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 1.61 percent of patients died, the DGHS statistics showed.

Bangladesh first reported Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the deadly virus on March 18, ten days later from the detection of coronavirus cases in the country.
