MMCH counts four more fatalities, 229 COVID cases

In the last 24 hours, another four people died at the Covid unit in Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH), among these, one died of Covid-19 and three died with COVID symptoms.

The casualties were reported from Thursday at 8 am to Friday at 8 am, confirmed Dr. Mohiuddin Khan Moon.

He said 85-year-old Fazila Khatun of Mymensingh Sadar Upazila died of Covid-19. Besides, Abul Hashem, Md. Alam of Mymensingh Sadar and Abul Hossain of Tarakanda upazila died with COVID symptoms. 

Dr. Mohiuddin Khan Moon added that 23 new patients were hospitalized at the unit, bringing the total number of patients undergoing treatment at MMCH’s COVID unit to 89. Among these, 46 are virus-positive patients. Seven people are currently being treated at the ICU. Besides, 17 people recovered in the preceding 24 hours. 

District Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Nazrul Islam said PCR labs and antigen tests at the hospital had identified 229 more COVID cases in a day.
