COVID cases counted 15,000-mark for third day, 15 dead

Bangladesh today reported 15,807 fresh Covid-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 15 lives.
“The country reported 31.98 percent Covid-19 positive cases after 49,425 samples tested in the last 24 hours,” the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement today.
The official tally showed that the virus killed 28,288 people and infected 17,47,331 so far, the statement added.
Around 1,037 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,61,043, bringing the recovery rate to 89.34 percent.
Earlier in the previous day, 15,527 Covid-19 cases and 17 deaths were reported in the country.
From the beginning of the pandemic, 1.62 percent of patients died, the DGHS statistics showed.
Among the eight divisions, Dhaka recorded the highest number of cases and deaths with 9,759 infections and eight fatalities.
Bangladesh first reported Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the deadly virus on March 18, ten days later from the detection of coronavirus cases in the country.
