Covid-19 claims 18 more lives, 16033 infected
Bangladesh today reported 16,033 fresh Covid-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 18 lives.
“The country reported 32.40 percent Covid-19 positive cases after 49,492 samples tested in the last 24 hours,” the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement today.
The official tally showed that the virus killed 28,256 people and infected 17,15,997 so far, the statement added.
At least 1,095 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,58,954 and the recovery rate at 90.85 percent.
Earlier, 14,828 Covid-19 cases and 15 deaths were reported in the previous day.
From the beginning of the pandemic, 1.65 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.
Bangladesh first reported Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the deadly virus on March 18, ten days later from the detection of coronavirus cases in the country.
