Covid-19: 15 die, 14,828 infected in 24hrs

Bangladesh today reported 14,828 fresh Covid-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 14 lives.

“The country reported 32.37 percent Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours,” the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement today. 

The official tally showed that the virus killed 28,238 people and infected 16,99,964 so far, the statement added.

At least 998 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,57,859 and the recovery rate at 91.64 percent.

The DGHS said among the total 28,238 fatalities, 12,351 occurred in Dhaka division, 5,718 in Chattogram, 2,069 in Rajshahi, 3,628 in Khulna, 955 in Barishal, 1,283 in Sylhet, 1,377 in Rangpur and 857 in Mymensingh divisions.

Earlier, 10,906 Covid-19 cases and 14 deaths were reported in the previous day.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 1.66 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.

Bangladesh first reported Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the deadly virus on March 18, ten days later from the detection of coronavirus cases in the country.
