Covid-19: 17 deaths, 9614 fresh cases counted in a day

Bangladesh today reported 9,614 fresh Covid-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 17 lives.

“The country reported 28.02 percent Covid-19 positive cases as 34,311 samples were tested in the last 24 hours,” the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement today. 

The official tally showed that the virus killed 28,209 people and infected 16,74,203 so far, the statement added.

The recovery count rose to 15, 56, 079 after another 482 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.

Earlier, 11,434 Covid-19 cases and 12 deaths were reported in the previous day.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 92.94 percent of Covid-19 patients recovered among the infected people while 1.68 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.

Bangladesh first reported Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the deadly virus on March 18, ten days later from the detection of coronavirus cases in the country.
