Bangladesh sees nearly 11,000 cases, 4 deaths from Covid-19

Bangladesh today reported 10,888 fresh Covid-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 4 lives.

"The country reported 26.47 percent Covid-19 positive cases as 37, 573 samples were tested in the past 24 hours," the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement. The total positivity rate stands at 13.77 percent.

Of the dead in the last 24 hours, one is male while three are female.

The official tally showed that the virus killed 28,180 people and infected 16,53,182 so far, the statement added.

The recovery count rose to 15, 54, 845 after another 577 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.

Earlier, 9,500 Covid-19 cases and 12 deaths were reported in the previous day.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 94.05 percent Covid-19 patients recovered among the infected people while 1.70 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.

Bangladesh first reported Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the deadly virus on March 18, ten days later from the detection coronavirus cases in the country.
