Covid-19: 10 die, 8,407 infected in 24hrs

Bangladesh today reported 8,407 fresh Covid-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 10 lives.

"The country reported 23.98 percent Covid-19 positive cases as 35,054 samples were tested in the past 24 hours," the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement.

The official tally showed that the virus killed 28,164 people and infected 16,32,794 so far, the statement added.

The recovery count rose to 15,53,795 after another 475 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.

Earlier, 6,676 Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths were reported in the previous day.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 95.16 percent Covid-19 patients recovered among the infected people while 1.72 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.

Bangladesh first reported Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the deadly virus on March 18, ten days later from the detection coronavirus cases in the country.
