COVID caseload crosses 16 lakh; 4 die, 2,916 cases counted

The Covid-19 or coronavirus cases are on the rise day by day in the country. The total number of Covid-19 cases now stands at 16,01,305 as 2,916 fresh cases were reported during the period.

Four more people died of the virus in the preceding 24 hours, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in a daily COVID bulletin on Wednesday.

The total number of deaths by Covid-19 in the country now stands at 28,111 and the death rate stands at 1.76 percent.

The country reported 11.68 percent Covid-19 positive cases as 24,964 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

The recovery count rose to 15,51,653 after another 266 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 96.90 percent of Covid-19 patients recovered among the infected people while 1.76 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.

Bangladesh first reported Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the virus on March 18, ten days later from the detection of the first cases.
