COVID cases jump further with 2,458 cases in a day; 2 dead

The Covid-19 or coronavirus cases in the country have been increasing further day by day in the last 24 hours. The total number of Covid-19 cases now stands at 15,98,389 as 2,458 fresh cases were reported during the period. 

Two more people died of the virus in the span of 24 hours, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,107 and the death rate stands at 1.77 percent.

The country reported 8.97 percent Covid-19 positive cases as 27,399 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

The recovery count rose to 15,51,287 after another 274 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 97.19 percent of Covid-19 patients recovered among the infected people while 1.77 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.

Bangladesh first reported Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death from the virus on March 18, ten days later from the detection of the first cases.
