Daily COVID cases are increasing in the port city Chattagram. The number of COVID cases has crossed 100 again in the city.

In the last 24 hours, 119 people have been identified COVID positive in Chattagram. However, no one died at the time. Civil Surgeon Mohammad Elias Chowdhury confirmed the information on Monday morning.

He said that in the last 24 hours, 2,034 samples has been tested in Chattagram University, BITID, Chattagram Medical College, Cox's Bazar Medical College, Antigen Test, Imperial Hospital, Chevron Lab, Chattagram Maternal and Child Hospital, RTL, Medical Center Hospital, Epic Health Care and Asian Specialized Hospital. Among them, 119 was found COVID positive. 

According to the test, the detection rate is 5.75 percent which was 5.89 percent in the previous 24 hours. Among the victims 101 are from the city, four from Hathazari, four from Potiya, three from Anwara, two from Boalkhali, two from Rangunia, two from Sitakunda and one from Satkania.

Earlier, the Civil Surgeon's Office had informed 104 COVID positive on Sunday, 76 on Saturday, 82 on Friday, 53 on Thursday, 53 on Wednesday and 35 on Tuesday. 

According to the Civil Surgeon's Office, 1,03,203 people have been infected with COVID in Chattagram district so far with 74,764 people in the city and 28,439 people at the upazila level. Besides, 1,334 people died. 824 are from the city and 610 from the upazila among them.

On April 3, 2020, the first COVID patient was identified in Chattogram. Then on April 9, the first person died from the virus.
