Elderly man dies at RMCH with COVID symptoms

An Elderly man had died with COVID symptoms at Rajshahi Medical College (RMCH). He died at the intensive care unit of the hospital on Sunday night (January 9).

The deceased was a resident of Natore district. No other casualties were reported at the hospital's COVID unit by 9am on Monday.

Director of RMC Hospital Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani confirmed the information. He said no patient died of COVID at RMC Hospital in 24 hours. However, one person died in the ICU of the hospital with symptoms of COVID infection. It has been suggested to bury the body in accordance with the hygiene rules.

Meanwhile, 27 patients were admitted in the 104-bed RMC's COVID unit till 9 am on Monday. Even a day ago this number was 31 people. At present 13 patients from Rajshahi, 6 from Chapainawabganj, 2 from Naogaon, 2 from Natore, 3 from Pabna and one patient from Kushtia are hospitalized.

7 people are admitted to the hospital with COVID. There are 14 people admitted with COVID symptoms. COVID was not detected among admitted 5 people. In addition, 7 people have been admitted in the last 24 hours. In this one day, 6 patients have recovered and left the hospital.

Earlier on Sunday, samples of 51 people was tested at RMC Hospital Lab. 5 people was detected COVID positive. On the same day, samples of 130 people were tested in RMC Lab and 8 were detected positive. The COVID detection rate is 7.15 percent in proportion to the test in Rajshahi.
