Another one contracts Omicron, 21 cases counted so far

Another one has been diagnosed with Omicron, a new variant of Covid-19, bringing the total number of Omicron infected patients in the country to 21.
The information was obtained from Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza (GISAID) in Germany on Saturday.
According to GISAID, the new patient with Omicron is currently staying in Dhaka – a male, 22 – his samples were collected on December 28.
The global database also informed that among the 21 Omicron cases, 14 are female and 7 are male.
Earlier on Thursday (January 6), 10 people were diagnosed with the Omicron variant in the country. On December 31, GISAID reported three Omicron cases.
Earlier, Omicron was detected in the body of one on the evening of December 28 and three persons at night. The previous day, on the night of December 27, GISAID reported one Omicron case.
Omicron was first identified in the country on December 11 last year. They were two Bangladeshi women cricketers returned from Zimbabwe. They are currently healthy.
