Over 25 lakh fresh COVID cases recorded globally

In the last 24 hours, 2,535,852 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 7,214 died from the pandemic. The US has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic during the period. 

Earlier on ‍Wednesday, 2,210,019 COVID-19 patients were detected while 7,433 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide. 

As of ‍Thursday morning (06-01-2022), a total of 298,256,742 people has been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 5,481,904 while 256,781,125 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data. 

The US has registered 1,802 deaths and 704,661 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 853,612 and counting the overall caseload to 58,805,186 in the country due to the pandemic so far. 

Russia has seen the second-highest death toll of 828 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 313,015. The total number of cases has exceeded 10,585,984 with 15,772 new infections. 

Poland has registered the third-highest death toll of 632 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 98,666 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 4,162,715 with 17,196 new cases. 

In Germany, 431more people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 113,902. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 7,342,216 as 63,191 new cases were confirmed during the period. 

The UK  has reported 194,747 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 13,835,334. The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 149,284 with 343 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours. 

The coronavirus, which was first reported in China in 2019, is affecting 222 countries and territories around the world.
