Bangladesh see ‘zero’ COVID deaths for first time

Bangladesh has reported no Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours for the first time since April 3, 2020, with this, the death toll remained unchanged at 27,946.

Meanwhile, 178 new virus cases were reported in the span of 24 hours, bringing the overall caseload to 15,73,889.

The information was obtained in a daily statement on the Covid-19 situation in the country sent by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

“The country reported 1.18 percent Covid-19 positive cases as 15,107 samples were tested in the last 24 hours,” DGHS said in its routine daily statement.

The recovery count rose to 15,38,006 after another 190 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 97.72 percent of Covid-19 patients recovered among the infected people while 1.78 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.
