Actor, director and politician, former Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor has been infected with Covid-19. He was admitted to a private hospital in the capital on Thursday evening.

Confirming the matter on Friday night, Ahkam Ullah, general secretary of the Abritti Somonnoy Parishad, said his condition is better.

“He is now under home isolation,” he added.

Born on 31 October 1946 in the Nilphamari district, Asaduzzaman Noor entered politics in 1963 by joining the then East Pakistan Students Union. He actively participated in the War of Liberation in 1971.

He was elected as a Member of Parliament from the Nilphamari-2 constituency in 2001, 2008, 2014 and 2017 from Awami League. He also served as the Minister of Cultural Affairs.

He received the Independence Award in 2018 for his contribution to culture. Besides, he has received Shaheed Munier Chowdhury Award, Naren Biswas Award, Shaheed Badruddin Hossain Memorial Award and World Stage Day Award.

Asaduzzaman Noor is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Culture.
