8 projects including cancer centres in each division approved

BD to host SAFF Championship in Sept 2020

Bangladesh will host the 13th edition of South Asia Football Federations (SAFF) Championship 2020, a biennial men’s football competition of South Asia in September next year.

The decision was taken at a SAFF Congress held in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur on Monday, chaired by its President Kazi Md Salahuddin.

SAFF Vice Presidents Khadem Ali Shah (Pakistan), Mani Kanwar (Nepal), General Secretary Anwarul Huq (Bangladesh), members Md Abu Nayeem Shohag (Bangladesh), Wugen Woyanchuk (Bhutan), Kushal Das (India), Ali Omar (Maldives), IndramanTuladhar (Nepal), Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi (Pakistan), M Ramiz Mahidin (Sri Lanka) and BFF Women's Wing Chairperson Mahfuza Akhter Kiron were also present at the congress.

1st edition of Amputee football held in capital

The first edition of the Amputee Football for booters with disabilities has jointly organized by Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and Imago Sports Welfare Association. The event took place at the BFF Artificial Turf in Motijheel on Monday morning.

A total of 50 amputee footballers from across the country joined the event. Abdus Salam Murshedy, BFF Senior Vice-President was present as the chief guest of the event.

An amputee is defined as someone who is abbreviated at or near the ankle or wrist.

On speech, Murshedy said, “I hope these footballers will develop their skills and capabilities and will lead Bangladesh in the Amputee Football World Cup. The federation will help them.”

Scientists detect newborn black hole

Physicists have 'heard' the ringing of an infant black hole for the first time, and found that the pattern of this ringing does, in fact, predict the black hole's mass and spin -- more evidence that Einstein was right all along

If Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity holds true, then a black hole, born from the cosmically quaking collisions of two massive black holes, should itself "ring" in the aftermath, producing gravitational waves much like a struck bell reverbates sound waves. Einstein predicted that the particular pitch and decay of these gravitational waves should be a direct signature of the newly formed black hole's mass and spin.
