Youth gets life for kidnapping child

Life imprisonment convict Anwar Hossain
A local court today sentenced a young man to life imprisonment in a case filed over child abduction in Joypurhat. The court also fined the accused Tk 3 lakh and given another three years imprisonment for non-payment.
Judge Rustam Ali of Joypurhat District Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal passed the verdict on Wednesday afternoon.
The convict was identified as Anwar Hossain, son of Abdus Chalek of Keshabpur mahalla in Akkelpur municipal area.
It is learned that Anwar Hossain used to work at the house of Samimul Huda Chowdhury, a transport and drug dealer in Chowdhurypara mahalla. On March 28, 2010, Anwar abducted Sabbir Hossain, son of Samimul's younger brother Tota Chowdhury, from his home. Later, he took anesthetic drugs and hid them under the stool of Anwar Hossain's house with scotch tape on his face.
Sabbir Hossain was rescued the night of the incident. Sabbir Hossain's uncle Samimul Huda Chowdhury filed a case with the police station. Police arrested Anwar Hossain.
Police filed a charge sheet against the convict. Anwar Hossain was later released on bail from the court. The hearing date was set for Wednesday (September 21, 2021). Following the hearing, Judge Rustam Ali handed down the verdict. Convicted Anwar Hossain was present before the court at the time.
PP Firoza Chowdhury of the Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal said Anwar Hossain, accused in the child abduction case, has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
