3.50 lakh pieces of Yaba tablets, worth Tk 10.50 crore, recovered
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 3.50 lakh pieces of Yaba tablets, worth Tk 10.50 crore, in a drive at Leda Churikhal area in Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday night.
Lt Col Mohammad Faisal Hasan Khan, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-2 in Teknaf, confirmed the information on Wednesday morning.
Acting on information that a large consignment of yaba from Myanmar will enter through Leda Churikhal area, a team of BGB under Leda BOP, conducted a drive in the area. At one stage, they challenged a boat carrying some people.
Sensing the presence of the border guards, the suspected smugglers managed to flee the spot. Later, the BGB members recovered four plastic bags from the boat.
3.50 lakh pieces of Yaba tablets, worth Tk 10.50 crore, were found in the bags. However, it was not possible to detain anyone at that time.
