Writ petition challenging Dhaka-8 polls result

A writ petition has been filed at High Court challenging the validity of the results of the Dhaka-8 constituency in the 11th parliamentary polls. At the same time, the nomination of elected MP Rashed Khan Menon and his gazette has been called for the suspension.

On Tuesday, a lawyer of the Supreme Court, Younus Ali Akand, filed the writ. The writ appealer lawyer was a contestant to become the MP in this constituency.

Five people have been defendant in the petition. They are Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda, Law Secretary, Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder, Returning Officer of Dhaka Division and elected MP Rashed Khan Menon.
