Worldwide 7098 deaths, 510153 cases registered in a day

In the last 24 hours, 510,153 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 7,098 died from the pandemic. The United States has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic and infections during the period.
As of Monday morning (04-01-2021), a total of 85,509,030 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,850,717 while 60,457,393 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data.
The US, the worst-hit country in the world, has registered 1,387 deaths and 194,337 new cases in the last 24 hours. The country is still at the top in coronavirus deaths and infections. A total of 360,078 people died in the country due to the pandemic and 21,113,528 have been infected so far.
Russia has seen the second-highest death toll of 504 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 58,506. The total number of cases has exceeded 3,236,787 with 24,150 new infections.
The UK has registered the third-highest death toll of 454 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 75,024 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 2,654,779 as 54,990 new cases were confirmed during the period.
In South Africa, 402 more people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 29,577. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 1,100,748 as 11,859 new cases were confirmed during the period.
The European country of Italy has reported 14,245 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 2,155,446. The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 75,332 with 347 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 218 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
