World Standards Day today

The 51st World Standards Day is celebrating on Wednesday. The day is celebrating worldwide every year to create awareness about the quality of products and services.
The theme of this year’s World Standards Day is “Protecting the Planet with Standards”, keeping this in mind, the day is being observed with due dignity in Bangladesh as well as in other countries of the world.
President M Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder and Industries Ministry Secretary KM Ali Azam have given separate statements on the occasion of the day. Besides, the heads of the international standards body ISO, IEC and ITU also gave statements on the occasion of the day.
On this occasion, Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has taken various programs. As a part of this, promotional activities including discussion meetings have been taken in the head office of BSTI as well as in the divisional and district offices.
On the other hand, special interview-based talk shows have been aired on Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar. Besides, arrangements have been made to send SMS to various mobile phones. Banners, festoons and placards have been placed at various important places in the capital.
On the occasion of the day, a discussion meeting has been organized at the head office of BSTI in Tejgaon at 11:00 am today. Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun will be the chief guest and State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder will be the special guest.
Industries Secretary KM Ali Azam and FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim will also be present. BSTI Director-General Dr. Md. Nazrul Anwar will preside over the meeting.
