Work starts to set up 12 RT-PCR labs in HSIA

Six of the seven contracted companies have started setting up 12 RT-PCR labs at Hazrat Shahjalal Airport on Wednesday evening. A source at the airport confirmed this. 

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed to set up RT-PCR labs for testing corona at airports across the country. Following the directive of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment approved seven companies to set up labs at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. 

The approved institutions are: Stamz Health Care (BD) Limited, CSBF Health Center, AMZ Hospital Limited, Anwar Khan Modern Medical College Hospital, Zainul Haque Sikder Women's Medical College and Hospital, Gulshan Clinic Limited and DMFR.

The information was given in a letter signed by senior assistant secretary of the ministry Sarwar Alam on Wednesday. 

The letter said the health department had proposed the names of seven organizations. The seven organizations have been approved by the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment.

Of the seven organizations, Stamz Health Care will be able to set up labs at the airport, the ministry said in a letter. Passengers departing from the airport can test Covid-19 sample here for Tk 2,000. 

The letter directed the chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority to take ancillary measures at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the light of the Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) within the stipulated time.
