A Khulna court today sentenced Rifat Sharif’s wife Aysha Siddika Minni and five others to death for killing him in Barguna in broad daylight last year. While four others were acquitted. In the charge sheet of this case, the name of wife Minni came up as the mastermind of the murder of her husband Rifat Sharif. The charge sheet also mentions the motive for the murder.

District and Sessions Judge of Barguna Md Asaduzzaman pronounced the verdict at 1:50pm in presence of nine accused (except Md Musa).

According to the charge sheet, Ayesha Siddika Minni was the mastermind behind the murder of her husband Rifat Sharif. She was first made a witness in the murder case of her husband Rifat. However, she was arrested as an accused in the investigation. 

Accused Nayan Bond and Rifat Faraji carried out the plan to kill husband Rifat Sharif in the plan of his wife Minni. Minni planned the murder as she had a love affair with Rifat Sharif and Nayan Bond. Which is mentioned in the charge sheet. The charge sheet states that she pretended to protect herself from the murder charge at the time of the incident. 

District and Sessions Judge of Barguna Md Asaduzzaman sentenced six people to death and acquitted four others in the Rifat Sharif murder case on Wednesday afternoon. 

The other condemned convicts are Rakibul Hasan alias Rifat Farazi, Abdul Kaiyum alias Rabbi Akon, Mohaiminul Islam Sifat, Rezwanul Khan alias Tiktok Ridoy and Md Hasan, he said. They were also fined Tk 50,000 each.

Rifat, 25, an internet service provider, was hacked in front of Barguna Government College in broad daylight on 26 June 2019. Seriously injured Rifat died on the same day at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

On September 1 of that year, the police filed a charge sheet in the Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court against 24 people, including Rifat's wife Minni, in the Rifat Sharif murder case. At the same time, the number one accused in the Rifat murder case, Nayan Bond was acquitted as he was killed in a gunfight.

On January 1 this year, Barguna District and Sessions Judge's Court filed charges against 10 adults accused in the Rifat murder case. On January 8, the Barguna Children's Court filed charges against 14 juvenile accused in the same case.
