Dhallywood’s renowned actress Pori Moni has accused a businessman named Nasir U Mahmud, a member of the Dhaka Boat Club’s executive committee (entertainment and culture), of attempting to rape, murder her.
Pori Moni has alleged that she was the victim of attempted rape and murder. She described the incident as a horrific nightmare.
Describing the incident, Pori Moni said she went to the Uttara Boat Club in the capital with her costume designer Jamie and friend Omi at around 12:00 am on Wednesday (June 9). There she saw 4-5 people including Nasir U Mahmud.
Omi introduced Pori Moni to Nasir. When they offered her liquor, she refused. She was then given a coffee, however, the coffee taste was “unusual”, as a result, she didn’t drink that coffee, Pori Moni said, claiming that even the cold drinks that were given to her were “mixed with liquor”.
“Due to this, I did not drink that cold drinks. For this, Nasir became furious.”
Pori Moni added that when she and her friend Jamie wanted to go to the washroom, they barred her from going. Even they did not allow Pori and Jamie to go home. “Nasir kicked and threw me out of the chair and put a bottle of liquor in my mouth. For this, I hurt in the teeth and consumed some liquor. It irritated my chest and I felt ill,” she said.
Pori Moni later alleged that she and her friend Jamie were threatened and abused, including attempted to rape them when they screamed and cried.
The incident did not end there, then she came to Banani police station the next day (Thursday) in the morning. There she spoke to the duty officer. But she was seen ill. Police officers then escorted her to Evercare Hospital in the capital.
Banani Police Station OC Noor-e-Azam Mia said Pori Moni did not contact him after she was asked to come to the police station after recovering.
Then the whole thing came to light on Sunday night. On that day, Pori Moni briefed the media at her Banani residence. Meanwhile, a case has been filed with Savar Police Station accusing six people including real estate businessman Nasir Uddin.
