Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzaque said, I still have a clear feeling that during the liberation war in 1971, we fought having month-long fasting. It was probably November or November. I was a commander during the war. I did not miss a fast. Despite lot of hardship, I did not break the fast.
He said these while he was delivering the speech in an Iftar Mahfi chief guest in Tangail on Friday.
The minister said, “The Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had united seven and a half million people of Padma, Meghna and Jamuna banks. In order to create an independent state of Bangladesh, he called for the highest sacrifice. We participated in the war of liberation by responding to the call of highest sacrifice. So we say we got freedom in exchange for million lives.”
He also said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took Bangladesh at a very high position. She introduced Bangladesh as a prestigious nation in the whole world. Today, we have taken the country to the highway of development.
