The water level of the Jamuna has started rising again due to continuous rains for several days and the hill slopes. In the last 24 hours, the water level at Sirajganj point has increased by 11 cm.

On the other hand, the water level at Kazipur point has increased by 5 cm at the same time. The people of the lowlands are being newly water-locked.

Houses in five upazilas on the banks of the Jamuna are being submerged due to rising water levels. Farmers are fearing crop loss. River erosion has occurred along with rising water. Especially in Kazipur, Enayetpur and Chowhali of the district, river erosion has become severe.

On Sunday, Sirajganj Water Development Board Deputy Assistant Engineer Ranjit Kumar Sarkar said the water level in the Jamuna River was rising due to light pressure in the sea. The water will continue to rise for the next 48 hours. If the water level rises in this way, it can cross the danger line at any time. However, there is no danger of flood even if the water level rises.
