Water level of Jamuna rises again

The water level of the Jamuna River has started rising again. The river was flowing at 55 cm above the danger zone at Bahadurabad Ghat Point on Friday morning. It is feared to flood in the district for the second time. 

Nobo Kumar, the executive engineer of the Water Development Board, confirmed the information, saying that the previous day, the water of the Jamuna river was flowing over 34 cm. “But on Friday morning, the water was rising from 34 cm to another 20 cm. Meanwhile, water has started entering into Islampur, Dewanganj, Sarishabari, Madarganj, Melandaha and Bakshiganj districts.  

More than five lakh people in seven upazilas of the district are spending humanitarian days due to flood. Relief activities continue at the public-private level in flood-hit areas. 

Besides, there has been a crisis of cattle feed. Moreover, the number of water-borne patients is increasing. The flood-affected people are in awe due to the fresh flood.
