Police seized 17 tons rice in Bogura

Warehouse official Gazi Mohammad was detained red-handed while smuggling rice from a food warehouse in Gabtali, Bogura. Police have arrested Shafiqul. At that time 17 tons of rice including truck was seized.

He was arrested from a government food warehouse in Gabtali Upazila around 10 am on Friday.

On Friday, rice was being loaded on a truck on the road adjacent to the Sabekpara government food warehouse. The locals were suspicious of loading rice from the warehouse without letting the truck enter the warehouse. They reported the matter to the police. Police went there and seized the rice along with the truck.

At that time, the warehouse officer showed a delivery order (DO) of 17 tons of rice to the police. Food warehouse officer Gazi was taken to the police station for interrogation.

Gabtali Upazila Food Control Haruna Rashid said no DO of 17 tons of rice was given. Details can be told after matching the stock in the warehouse.

Sabina Yasmin, ASP of Gabtoli Circle, said the news was received at night, that rice would be smuggled from the warehouse. Accordingly, after taking out the rice on Friday morning, we seized 17 tons of rice along with the truck. The rice was sold to a trader in Dhunat.
