The United States continued to distance itself from the World Health Organization (WHO) over the deadly coronavirus issue. U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday to end the United States relationship with the World Health Organization over the body’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
But WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told an online media briefing on Monday he hoped his organisation could continue its longstanding collaboration with the United States.
“The announcement came last Friday. You are all aware of that. I would like to end here today by saying that the World Health Organization will continue to cooperate with the United States. The United States’ contribution and generosity towards global health over many decades has been immense, and it has made a great difference in public health all around the world,” he said.
