Voting ends, counting underway

Voting for the 11th parliamentary election ended peacefully and festive atmosphere. At the moment votes counting is going on in every center.

The voting began at 8am on Sunday and ended at 4pm.

Earlier in the morning, voters went to the polling booth ignoring dense fog and cold wind of the winter. In the morning, the number of voters was low, but it increases as soon as time goes on.
Polling was held in 299 seats of 300 parliamentary seats of the country. Gaibandha-3 constituency has been adjourned for Jan 27 due to the death of the candidate.

This year's number of contestants are 1,861. Of these, the number of party nominated candidates are 1,733, and 128 contested as an independent candidate.

Among the candidates, Awami League's 260 (boat 272), BNP's 219 (Paddy Shade 282), Jatiya Party's 175 (Grand Alliance 25) and Islami Movement Bangladesh's 298 contestants contesting in the polls.
