Voluntary labor in graveyard

Work of soil filling in the local public graveyard is being done voluntarily by villagers of Rihila in Nakla Upazila under Sherpur district. Upazila chairman and municipal Awami League president AKM Mahbubul Alam Sohag inaugurated the construction work with spade in hand.

At the largest graveyard in Nokle’s Rihila area, the bodies of the local and surrounding areas are buried in the graveyard.

But in the rainy season, the rain water accumulated on the graveyard creates severe sufferings for the people. So the initiative of the locals to voluntarily fill the soil and the work of soil filling started as usual.

Upazila chairman AKM Mahbubul Alam brought the matter to the local residents of the village Rihila. They decided that if the Upazila chairman agreed, then with him there would be filled the soil voluntarily in the graveyard.

Later, in the presence of Upazila Chairman AKM Mahbubul Alam, Joint Secretary Jubo League joint convener FM Kamrul Alam Ranju, local municipal councilor Firoz Miah, s the local people tarted the work ignored the winter. Everyone took part in the volunteer work to fill the soil in public graveyard.

Upazila chairman Sohag said, although the initiative was taken by the members of graveyard management committee, but half of the hundred young villagers are working voluntarily for soil filling.
