After a long 28 years, a special CBI court in Lucknow is set to announce the verdict in the case of demolition of the historic Babri Mosque on Wednesday.
The main accused in the case are senior leaders like LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharati.
This special court will decide whether LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi were involved in the 1992 Babri Masjid incident. The 32 accused in the case have been asked to be present in court during the verdict.
On December 6, 1992, the century-old Babri Masjid was destroyed in an attack in Ayodhya. This led to violence all over India. 1,800 people were killed in this.
Earlier, on November 9 last, a five-judge bench rejected the Sunni Waqf Board's demand and ordered the construction of a Ram temple there. However, the apex court also termed the demolition of Babri Masjid as a “grave violation of the rule of law”.
