Vaccine production activities started in the country: Health Minister

Health Minister Zahid Malek said that the activities for the production of coronavirus vaccine have started in the country as per the directives of the Prime Minister.
The health minister made the remarks at an event titled 'Bangladesh in a Year of Coronavirus: Success and Challenges' at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University on Monday.
Zahid Malek said the Prime Minister has directed to take necessary steps for the production of vaccines in the country. We have started that work. There are many big pharmaceutical companies in our country that have the ability to make vaccines. They have been asked to take the necessary action.
Regarding receiving the vaccine, Health Minister Zahid Malek said, “I started writing for the vaccine in May-June. I have sent letters to all the companies that make vaccines. We did video conferencing day and night to get the vaccine at the right time.”
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kanak Kanti Barua was present as the special guest on the occasion.
