In the eleventh parliamentary elections, unregistered political parties will be able to participate jointly. The matter should be informed to the Election Commission (EC) within three days.

Responding to a question, Election Commission (EC) Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed informed this news at the election house of Agargaon, in the capital Dhaka on Friday. But he didn’t say when the three days will start from.

Responding to the question on unregistered political party’s leaders can elect as a registered party’s candidate, the EC secretary said, “There is no law on it. But if a registered political party nominates the unregistered party’s leader as its candidate, then we will not be able to stop.”

To make an alliance, political parties have to inform the election commission within three days. Today, the parties will be given a letter in this regard, said EC Secretary Helaluddin.

The EC has canceled the registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami recently. Asked whether the members of this group can participate in the election as independent candidates or as candidates of another party, he said that if they want to be elected as the symbol of another party or as independent candidates, then there is no law to prevent them.

Helal Uddin Ahmed said that no one can run the election campaign before the allocation of symbols. The advance campaign will be removed in the next seven days. The authorities have been instructed in this regard.

According to the election schedule, 11th parliamentary elections will be held on 23rd December.
