The United States has announced an $18 crore fund for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and Rohingya in Myanmar’s Rakhine state.
Apart from this, those who have been harmed while sheltering the Rohingyas in Bangladesh will also get assistance from this fund.
The United States on Wednesday announced the new aid for Rohingya refugees, the Voice of America (VOA) reported.
US State Department spokesman Ned Price said US humanitarian assistance had been provided in numerous ways. These include education, food security, health, nutrition, safety, shelter, disaster response, water, sanitation, hygiene.
“Since August 2017, the total US assistance to Rohingya refugees has been $1.5 billion,” the US State Department also said.
Notably, the Myanmar army carried out horrific atrocities against the Rohingya in Rakhine, including ethnic cleansing. In the face of oppression, millions of Rohingya were forced to flee to Bangladesh in August 2017.
