The number of girl examinees in this year's Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations is higher than the boy examinees, said Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Thursday.

The number of female JSC, JDC examinees this year is 2,22,869 lakh more than the male students, he said.

The Minister was talking to reporters on Thursday after visiting examination centres at Motijheel Government Boys' High School and Motijheel Government Girls' High School in the capital.

The Minister said that all necessary preparations have been taken to hold the examinations in a peaceful manner.

All concerned, including the law enforcing agencies, are working relentlessly to ensure smooth holding of the examinations in a copying-free environment. Members of law enforcement agencies remained alert to prevent question leakage incident, he said.

He warned that strict action will be taken if anyone found involved in question leakage incident.

The minister also informed that the rate of student dropout has been decreased in secondary level education. For that reason, the number of students is increasing in JSC and JDC examinations. Last year, the number of student was 24,68,000 in JSC and JDC examinations while the number of student this year is 26,70,000.
