Veteran US actor Mark Blum died of complications from coronavirus. He was 69.
Confirming the information, his wife actress Janet Zarish said that the actor breathed his last on March 25 at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
In "Desperately Seeking Susan," he played Gary Glass, the husband of bored New Jersey homemaker Roberta Glass, portrayed by Rosanna Arquette.
"This is really tragic and my heart goes out to him, his family and his loved ones," Madonna, his "Desperately Seeking Susan" co-star, said on social media. "I remember him as funny warm, loving and professional when we made Desperately Seeking Susan in 1985!!"
Rebecca Damon, executive vice president and New York president of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) labor union said Blum was a "tireless advocate" for fellow performers.
"I always appreciated Mark's clear perception of complex situations," Damon wrote of Blum, a former SAG-AFTRA board member.
Blum had TV credits on "Frasier," "NYPD Blue" and "Law & Order." More recently, he appeared in "Mozart in the Jungle," "Us" and "Succession."
